Pilates is an exercise that improves strength, balance, and flexibility of the body by nonimpact exercises, stretching, and breathing techniques. Pilates is less vigorous than aerobic exercises and puts very little stress on joints. Yet Pilates is a strenuous activity which increases strength. Pilates works to bring balance to the body and increase inner awareness. There are different styles and types of Pilates.
